I pretty much agree with you on the analysis of the political parties. I see labour, liberals and nationals as different branches of the same party really. They all represent business interests, just slightly different sections of the business community. The greens are not revolutionary: they want to keep the current system of exploitation without the sharp edges.

I find that most of the socialist parties are disunited and waiting to lead the revolution, or just waiting for things to fall apart, and each little party thinks that they are the only ones that have things right. The Socialist Alliance does seem to be an exception as they have tried to unite the left as a means to overthrowing the system. Noble goal really! What are your thoughts on them?

The "catch up" SMS is a good sign. I agree, a mix-up is good (my original point was merely an observation, so don't feel the need to take it on board.)

I would propose that the Liberal Party aren't so much a party, more a proxy for business.

And that the National party are a proxy for the Liberals, with the complete facade simply to get the farming vote. Very rarely do they provide any benefit to farmers in any way.

Great post. Though think that there is a huge difference between the greens - who happily involve themselves in 'the system' ie: parliament, and the various mutations of anarchism - which wants to overthrow the structure of power. Fundamental differences i would say.

I have some questions.
(Let me establish firstly that I am quite ignorant of the political movements other than mainstream.)

1) You say that the aim of AS is to have liberated workers, what does that mean? Who leads the workers out of the current situation and into one where they can produce for themselves, is that what it's all about?

2) If society is to move ahead, how does it do it without a leader? or am I missing something?

3) Every era builds upon the previous, doesn't it? Without leadership, direction and a common goal, don't you end up just looking after yourself?

Maybe not the most intellectual questions, but as I read the whole post I feel entitled to ask some questions.

PS: I don't mind the human elements (lady issues, baby nephew love etc), but I enjoy the lessons in politics more.
